WHO IS ULRICH LUMBER?
COMPANY HISTORY
Ulrich Lumber & Fuel was founded in 1923 by Arthur M. Ulrich. Mark C. Roose purchased Ulrich in 1927. The business first began as a coal yard, but transformed into a lumberyard during World War II. During World War II, the Company’s focus became crating and shipping tank parts for the Detroit Tank Arsenal. Lumber was at a premium and Mark C. Roose had the vision and determination to create a business that has survived 87 years. Mark C. Roose, Executive Vice President, and Robyn Roose Beckett, Secretary, represent the third generation to operate Ulrich Lumber…their sons, Mark C. Roose III and Justin Roose Beckett, the fourth.
Ulrich Lumber, once again, has adjusted its focus to the recycling of high quality building material, through the salvage and re-manufacturing of historic wood from the Packard Motor Company located on East Grand Boulevard in Detroit. Custom millwork…including planning, tongue & grooving, laser engraving for trophies and/or plaques is available for their customers.

Mark is the Grandson of Mark C. Roose who purchased Ulrich Lumber & Builders Supply, Inc. in 1927. Mark has been the General Manager and Purchaser for 35 years. Mark oversees the remanufacturing operations of Authentic Packard LLC.
Robyn Roose Beckett, Secretary and Director
Robyn is the Granddaughter of Mark C. Roose. She has been the Office Manager for 27 years. Robyn is active on the following Boards and/or Committees:
Hoo-Hoo International: Robyn is on the Board of Directors and oversees the Clubs located in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio and western New York. HHI is one of the world’s oldest service organizations, having been organized in 1892. Its members are interested in the welfare and promotion of the lumber industry. The Detroit Hoo-Hoo Club #28: Robyn was named the first woman President in 2008! She continues to serve as President promoting friendship, education and community service to her members.
Michigan Lumber & Building Materials Association: Ulrich Lumber has been a member of the MLBMA for over 40 years. Robyn is a member of the Pro Building Showcase Trade Show Committee. This Committee is responsible for developing the largest Michigan trade show, which is a yearly function that suppliers, retailers and consumers attend to view and purchase the latest building materials in the lumber industry. Authentic Packard LLC: Robyn organized the salvage operation work force, the business aspects of the salvage operation, and continues to head the business operations of Authentic Packard LLC. Authentic Packard LLC, in conjunction with Packard Motor Car Foundation, has successfully completed the salvage operation of all hardwood from the office building of the former Packard Car Company located on East Grand Boulevard in Detroit, Michigan.
